Enhancement Procedures And Associated Costs

There are several penis enhancement procedures, each of which have a different approach and associated costs.

penis enlargement surgery cost comparison table

Enhancement by fat injection

In a penile fat injection, the surgeon will cut fat cells from a fatty portion of the patient’s body, then inject them into the penis through a series of small incisions on the organ itself.

Fat injections are risky. Possible side effects include infections, lumps, and other deformities. Even without side effects, any size gains are temporary, meaning the procedure needs to be repeated regularly.

Subcutaneous fat injections are not recommended by the American Urological Association (AUA).

Enhancement by suspensory ligament division

Another operation, called a suspensory ligament release, may seem to increase the apparent length of the flaccid organ by severing or “releasing” the suspensory ligament, which is responsible for connecting the pubic bone to the penis.

For this procedure, the surgeon will cut and slide skin from the stomach down to the penile shaft. While the operation may slide the flaccid organ lower, it does not actually increase penile length or girth.

Worse, suspensory ligament release can in fact shrink penis size, and is also not recommended by the American Urological Association.

Enlargement surgery with the Penuma® implant

Penuma is the first penile implant cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for aesthetic enhancement of the penis.

Unlike other procedures, the Penuma procedure does not cause scarring on the penis itself, and can actually widen and lengthen the organ (individual results may vary). This is achieved through the Penuma implant, a sleeve made of medical-grade silicone that wraps around or “hugs” the penile shaft.

In a brief outpatient procedure, your Penuma provider inserts the implant through a small incision made along the scrotum. The procedure typically has patients home the same day.

Frequently Asked Questions

We invented the implant in the early 2000s and subsequently received 510(k) clearance.

Our most recent, IRB-approved clinical study done over a five year period found very high levels of satisfaction with the implant over the short and long-term and significant improvements in patient self-confidence.

This depends on the method you use for penile augmentation. With Penuma, there is short recovery time allowing the patient to return to routine activities within 2-4 days. The implant is made with soft, medical-grade silicone. It is designed to feel natural whether you’re flaccid (“soft”) or erect (“hard”). Patients often report that it is undetectable to sexual partners who did not see the penis before the procedure.

The penile enhancement procedure is currently provided in Beverly Hills, Chicago, Washington, DC, Boston, Phoenix, New York, Austin, Louisiana, Atlanta, and the Bay Area.

Please let your consultant know if you have a preferred clinic location or find a physician near you. More locations will be available soon.

The Penuma® implant is made of a soft, medical-grade silicone to provide a natural feel. The implant contains no liquid or gels.

The Penuma® implant is manufactured in an ISO-certified facility under U.S. quality controls.

As with any procedure, there are potential benefits and potential risks.

Our IRB-approved, retrospective clinical study found that patients experienced high levels of satisfaction with the implant and increased levels of self-confidence as a result of the implant.

There were a small number of adverse events reported (e.g., infection in 3% of cases and seroma in 5% of cases) and often due to patient non-compliance with post-operative instructions. Therefore, it is imperative that patients follow all post-operative instructions.

The medical staff will discuss all possible risks, complications, benefits, and alternatives, including no procedure, with patients prior to the procedure.

Based on an IRB-approved clinical review of 400 patients over 5 years, there were NO cases of changes to penile function, ability to get or sustain an erection, ejaculation, or sensation during sex.

As with any surgical procedure, individual results may vary.
