How the Penuma® Procedure Works
Male Enhancement Procedures And Costs
There are a variety of male enhancement approaches, each of which have different costs.
Penile enlargement surgery through fat injection
One enhancement method takes fat tissue from a fatty region of the body and injects it into the penile shaft. The surgeon then uses a series of small incisions to move the fat cells around the penis.
Fat injection procedures can lead to a number of side effects, including infections, deformities, and reabsorption. Even the best of results are not permanent and need to be administered again and again.
Penis enlargement surgery through suspensory ligament division
The suspensory ligament release procedure can seem to increase the apparent length of the flaccid penis by cutting or dividing the suspensory ligament, which is responsible for connecting the pubic bone to the penis.
This operation involves cutting and moving skin from the patient’s stomach to the penile shaft. While a suspensory ligament division may shift the organ farther down the patient’s body than before, actual penile length and girth do not increase.
Penis enlargement surgery with the Penuma implant
Penuma is the first Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared penile implant for aesthetic enhancement.
This innovative, life-changing procedure uses a crescent-shaped implant made of medical-grade silicone. Girth can increase an average of 1 to 2 inches, and flaccid length increases are usually reported as well, though individual results may vary.
After molding and shaping the implant to best match your individual anatomy, your Penuma provider will insert the implant through an incision made below the organ. The brief outpatient procedure usually sees patients home the same day.

After the Penuma procedure, patients can return to routine activities within 2-4 days, with rigorous exercise and sexual activity taking up to 8 weeks. The implant is made with soft, medical-grade silicone. It is designed to feel natural whether you’re flaccid (“soft”) or erect (“hard”).

The Penuma® implant is manufactured in an ISO-certified facility under U.S. quality controls.
As with any procedure, there are potential benefits and potential risks.
Our IRB-approved, retrospective clinical study found that patients experienced high levels of satisfaction with the implant and increased levels of self-confidence as a result of the implant.
There were a small number of adverse events reported (e.g., infection in 3% of cases and seroma in 5% of cases) and often due to patient non-compliance with post-operative instructions. Therefore, it is imperative that patients follow all post-operative instructions.
The medical staff will discuss all possible risks, complications, benefits, and alternatives, including no procedure, with patients prior to the procedure.
Does the Penuma® implant affect my ability to get or sustain an erection, sensitivity during sex or ejaculation?
Based on an IRB-approved clinical review of 400 patients over 5 years, there were NO cases of changes to penile function, ability to get or sustain an erection, ejaculation, or sensation during sex.
As with any surgical procedure, individual results may vary.
