Dr. Karpman attended medical school at the University of Vermont where he was awarded the James Demeules Surgical Research Award before completing his urologic surgery training at the University of California, Davis Medical Center. Dr. Karpman has authored numerous articles on the subjects of urology, sexual dysfunction, penile implant surgery, and male infertility. He authored the chapter on sperm retrieval techniques in the definitive textbook on male infertility.
Dr. Edward Karpman is a board-certified urologist and one of the few urologists who is also fellowship trained in Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery, Microsurgery, and Male Sexual Dysfunction. He is the medical director of the Men’s Health Center at El Camino Hospital Los Gatos and the California Vasectomy and Reversal Center. He grew up in Southern California and attended college at the University of California, Davis, where he graduated with Honors in Biological Sciences. He went on to medical school at the University of Vermont where he was awarded the James Demeules surgical research award and scored in the top 5% of all medical school graduates in the nation on his medical board exams. He completed his urologic surgery training at the University of California, Davis Medical Center, where he received several awards for his research and publication.
Dr. Karpman was then awarded a prestigious fellowship in Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. There, he specialized in Male Infertility, Microsurgery, and Male Sexual Dysfunction. Dr Karpman has authored numerous articles on the subjects of urology, sexual dysfunction, penile implant surgery, and male infertility. He authored the chapter on sperm retrieval techniques in the definitive textbook on male infertility. He has been interviewed by NBC news, ABC news, Fox radio, NPR, Parents magazine and Bay Area Parent magazine.
He has presented research in the fields of male fertility, microsurgery, and penile implants at national meetings. He is involved in the development of new technologies for the treatment of prostate enlargement. Dr. Karpman has been an invited lecturer on the subjects of testosterone replacement, male sexual dysfunction, and male infertility. He serves as a proctor for laser surgery of the prostate, penile implants, and male incontinence operations, helping other physicians to perform these operations. In his spare time, Dr. Karpman likes to surf, snowboard, and spend time with his two boys.
